Christ is calling you

I just returned from the LifeTeen Convention in Phoenix. Yesterday, a young priest, Fr. Chris, shared the words of Pope John Paul the Great that effected him deeply in his vocation. I think we might put these on our t-shirt this year for Steubenville:

Christ is calling you;
the Church needs you;
the Pope believes in you
and he expects great things of you!

What do you think?

  1. Wow. I've never read that quote before, yet somehow it seems so PERSONAL!

    He is one of my patrons, and I KNOW he's helped me to get through my first Grad theology class (Writings of JP2!). Just as an aside...I DON'T have a background in theology, so let's just say intercession was needed, and he also provided a certain amount of spiritual direction via his writings during Lent.

    And with that in context, suddenly I feel convicted...oh, boy.

  2. This is my favorite quote, I have it hanging in my office at work. I had the great honor to hear him say this quote at the Papal Youth Rally on January 26, 1999 in St. Louis. That small line has affected me and many others. I also had the greatest honor in my life that night. Before he made his address to the youth, I actually got to meet him and shake his hand. What a moment!
    I am attaching the link to his entire address to the youth. Alot of it is very worthy of us to read and then re-read: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/travels/documents/hf_jp-ii_spe_26011999_stlouis-youth_en.html
